Short definitions for figures on this site. Numbers always point back to their source.

Adjusted B visa refusal rate
A fiscal-year statistic published by the U.S. Department of State for B visas, by nationality. Not an individual's chance of refusal or approval.
Fiscal year (FY)
The U.S. government fiscal year on refusal tables. FY2025 is the official label, not a calendar-year promise.
Average wait time
Published estimate of how long recent applicants waited. Not the next open appointment and not real-time.
Next available appointment
Published estimate of the next appointment slot. Separate from average wait time. Not real-time.
Visa-free
Entry described as not needing a visa beforehand. Rules change. Indicative only.
Visa on arrival
Described as obtainable at the border. Not the same as visa-free. Confirm before travel.
eTA
Electronic travel authority. Often required even without a visa sticker. Not an eVisa and not visa-free.
eVisa
A visa applied for online before travel. Distinct from eTA and visa on arrival.
Visa required
A visa is described as required before travel. The table does not say an application will be approved.
